Dr. Jon Kacz founded Purple Tooth Pediatric Dentistry & Braces in Mt Holly, NC in October 2021 with a straightforward goal: build a dental office that kids actually want to come back to. Since opening, the practice has grown to serve more than 120 new patients each month — almost entirely through word of mouth, community involvement, and a reputation for never pushing children into treatment before they or their families are ready.
Dr. Kacz grew up in Raleigh, NC and graduated from UNC. He spent more than eight years living and working abroad in Mexico, Spain, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and across Central and South America — an experience that shaped both his clinical perspective and his bilingual (English and Spanish) approach to patient care. He and his wife Lisbeth speak Spanish at home with their son.
Although Dr. Kacz graduated as a general dentist, he later completed a pediatric dental residency in New York, where he received advanced training in complex pediatric cases, behavior management, sedation safety, and orthodontics. During his residency, he trained directly alongside the Orthodontics Department and treated full brace cases — experience that has allowed him to integrate orthodontic care directly into a pediatric dental setting. To date, he has treated more than 500 patients with braces.

Dr. Kacz co-founded WakeSmiles, a volunteer dental office in Raleigh, NC. He has also volunteered dental care in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Honduras. In Mt Holly, Purple Tooth has become a community landmark — known for its seasonal front-entrance displays, take-home yard signs, and an active presence in local family Facebook groups.
