Composite bonds directly to the tooth, which means we can remove less of the healthy structure to place it, a real perk when we’re working inside a small mouth with room to spare. According to the CDC’s 2024 Oral Health Surveillance Report, nearly 1 in 5 children ages 6 to 8 already have at least one primary tooth with untreated decay, and by age 6 to 9, about half of all kids have had a cavity, filling, or missing tooth.
